Corrosion Protection, Simplified

Industrial bolted connections have always been the hard problem in corrosion protection. Complex geometry. Thin spots. Sharp edges that defeat coatings. We stopped trying to work around the geometry — and removed it from the equation entirely.

Bolt geometry defeats traditional coating methods.

Flanges, studs, nuts, and bolt heads are among the most corrosion-vulnerable assets on any industrial facility — and the hardest to protect. The compound geometry of a threaded fastener creates angles that are difficult to abrasive blast effectively, and sharp edges that produce thin film thicknesses no matter how carefully coating is applied.

The result is premature failure at exactly the points where you need the protection most. Maintenance cycles get shorter. Costs compound. And the problem never really goes away — it just comes back faster.

Encase it. Fill it. Seal it.

Instead of coating around the geometry, ARCap physically encases the entire bolt head or nut assembly inside a polymer shell. During application the shell is filled with a polyisobutene compound that flows into every void, displacing air and moisture completely. There is no geometry left to protect — because it's no longer exposed. The PIB material stays permanently plastic, never cures, and won't expand or contract with thermal cycling.

Polyethylene based materials demonstrate excellent chemical resistance in a variety of environments making them an excellent addition to nearly any industrial setting. Whether new construction or ongoing maintenance, your bolted connections need an effective solution that traditional barrier coatings struggle to achieve.

The ARCap

A precision-fit polymer cap engineered for industrial bolt and nut assemblies. Available in LDPE and HDPE depending on your service temperature and environmental conditions. Specify any RAL colour code to match existing plant or asset identification standards. ARCaps are produced to order depending on the height requirements necessary to encase the bolt head/nut and ensure a low profile for tightly adjacent areas.

Installation requires no specialized tooling, no technical knowledge, and minimal surface preparation.

Material — Standard LDPE
Material — High Temp HDPE
Max Service Temp 80°C (LDPE)
100°C (HDPE)
Surface Prep SSPC-SP1
Filler Any Polyisobutene (PIB) based product
UV Option HALS + Antioxidant additives
Chemical Resistance Broad pH range
Tooling Required Power Tools
Colour Matching Any RAL code

Complete Geometry Encapsulation

The cap locks under the chamfer of the bolt head or nut, fully enclosing the fastener assembly. No angles left exposed. No edges to thin coat. The cavity space is sealed by the PIB fill.

Permanent Plastic PIB Fill

Polyisobutene compounds are formulated to remain plastic indefinitely. They do not cure, do not harden, and do not expand or contract under thermal cycling — maintaining the seal throughout the service life.

Minimal Surface Preparation

SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning is the minimum requirement. No abrasive blasting, no profiling, no specialist surface prep crews. Preparation that can be done by whoever is already on the job.

Chemical & Environmental Resistance

LDPE and HDPE are chemically inert across a broad pH range, making ARCap suitable for chemical plants, marine environments, water treatment, and process piping exposed to aggressive media.

Four steps. No tooling. No crew.

01

Verify Conditions

Confirm substrate is dry and at least 3°C above dew point before application.

02

Prepare Surface

Solvent clean to SSPC-SP1. Remove any loose debris from the area.

03

Fill the Cap

Load the ARCap with PIB corrosion protection compound.

04

Apply & Lock

Push the filled cap by hand onto the fastener assembly until the lip seats under the chamfer.

Protected

Geometry is encased. PIB fills all voids. Moisture and contaminant ingress is blocked.
